If your marketing is not ticking some people off, then you arenâ€™t doing your job! Sounds crazy right? Well, here is the truth of the matter. As an entrepreneur it is your job to deliver content the people on your list have signed up for. Your market will appreciate your information (if it is good) and will even be able to use some of the things you show them. How often you choose to communicate with your list is up to you, but it should be often enough that you are able to build a rapport with them. Anyone who chooses to â€œopt outâ€� of your list is not interested in what you are doing for whatever reason. And that is okay. I remember when I was first starting out, I would get so upset if someone opted out of my list, I really took it personalâ€¦Until my coaches and mentors told me that was normal and they arenâ€™t my target client anyway. What is the point in having someone on your list, who isnâ€™t interested in what you do? NONE!
So what about this â€œticking people offâ€� stuff I mentioned? Well, just last week my ezine had a headline that read â€œYou Are So Cheap.â€� I received notification from someone who opted out of my list and provided the reason why. Here is what she said:
â€œYour emails are not cute. You are breeding negativity and negativity spreads disease.â€� She sounds pretty ticked off right? Well the fact of the matter is that I use compelling headlines to get you to read the darn great information I write for you each week! Every time I write, I think about what subject line I can use to get you to even open my email up. And if my headlines werenâ€™t ticking some people off, then I am NOT doing my job! See the fact of the matter is, the women who wrote that I was being negative, never bothered to read my email. If she had read it, she would see that my ezine was all about pricing your products accordingly and knowing your worth. But she was someone who signed up on my list for probably not the right reasons at all, and in turn is not my target client.
No matter how great your ezine, newsletter or blog is, nobody will ever get to see it if YOU do not write compelling subject lines and headlines that spark their curiosity enough to even open the darn thing!
