Step Aside!-Vicki Irvin

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I beat myself up pretty bad over the weekend! I have some physical fitness goals I have fallen pretty short of and guess what? I have been making excuses! I caught myself right in the middle of justifying! That’s okay though, the first step is admitting it! LOL. I will be in the gym at 4:30 this afternoon, I am announcing it to the world!

What made me realize that I was making excuses was a conversation with my husband Lloyd! I was rambling on and on about how there aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the things I wish to do, blah blah, blah. I even found a way to blame him for not hitting my goals. That’s when he told me to stop complaining and be real with myself. He said that I have the ability to do whatever I want, but that I put mental handcuffs on myself. They are personal constraints that are holding me prisoner! They aren’t outside forces that I can’t control, it is just ME holding myself back. At first I got mad, but after I stormed away from him I realized he was soooo right. I am my worst critic and I am pretty hard on myself. There is nobody holding me back from anything, I am doing it to myself!

Remember I just encouraged you a few weeks ago to get out of your own way? Well guess what… I just had to do it too! So today, come heck or high water, I will be at the gym by 4:30 to accomplish my fitness goals. May sound really trivial to many people, but this same concept applies to every aspect of life no matter what it is you are trying to do.

So if you have been putting something off and making excuses, join me is stepping aside so that we can be all that we want to be!!! As much as people tell me that I motivate them, I want everyone to know you motivate me too! Thanks for sharing your stories and struggles and thanks for listening to mine! Together we will accomplish our goals!
