Vicki Irvin-Industry Norms Don’t Cut It!-Maryland Real Estate Investing

Happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I spent the majority of my time at children’s birthday parties, my son had to make his rounds.

I was listening to some educational CD’s over the weekend and some very simple but profound concepts rang out. One of my mastermind mentors was talking about how people in the workplace have a warped sense of how to get a task done. For example, think how many times you have asked someone to complete a task and when you asked for a status report, you got an answer like, “I called and left a message, I am waiting for a call back.� To most people that is the norm. They feel as if they actually did something. But the fact remains that when you leave a message, the task is not complete and has not been accomplished. A real go getter focuses on task completion and leaving a message is just not good enough. In life, in order to produce extraordinary results, you have to begin with the end in mind. That is what separates people.

I thought about my most successful real estate investing students and they are the ones who don’t accept easy answers. They push for results and task completion and always have more than one alternative up their sleeve. Remember this, industry norms produce industry results, so if you want to break out of the mold of ordinary, you have got to be a renegade!
