Vicki Irvin-DREAM BIG, ACT NOW! Maryland Real Estate Investing

It’s Friday!! Thank goodness! I’m sure your spirits are higher today if you are at work. I remember when I was working how happy everyone appeared to be, just because we were getting those two days off. Who came up with this system of 5 days at work and only 2 days off anyway?

I want to share some stories with you. I get lots of emails from people who want to become real estate investors, but are unable to at this time due to a variety of reasons many of them financial. People share with me their stories of tragedy, of being laid off from work… one person is taking care of their child who is awaiting a kidney transplant. People have been scammed out of money from other people who promised to teach them real estate investing, so their funds are tapped at this time. And the list goes on and on. I am touched when I hear these stories because these are real people dealing with real situations in this game of life. And trust me, I have had my fair share of tragedy too, some of which I will share with you from time to time.

But have you ever known people who no matter what their circumstances were, even when they were down and out, they managed to make a goal they were trying to obtain actually happen? I’m talking about people who had hit rock bottom, but somehow were able to pull themselves out of the hole and obtain success. These people always amazed me, but I later learned that what set these people apart from others was that these people were able to make DECISIONS quickly. They had mastered procrastination, and they didn’t allow the opinion of others to sway them. Sometimes we don’t want to admit it, but wondering what other people will say about something we want to do often is the very thing that prevents us from reaching our goals. Successful people could careless about gossiping neighbors, they only focus on their desires.

Don’t think that every successful person you see just made it big overnight and they were just lucky. Many of the wealthiest people in the world have lived out of their cars at some point, filed for bankruptcy, foreclosed on a house and have lived on the streets. But these people kept their dreams and goals in mind and didn’t allow other people’s opinions stop them from achieving the success they knew they deserved and could attain.

I know that the moment I decided I no longer wanted to work for anyone else and I started telling people, they started telling me how dumb my ideas were and that I would be a fool to walk away from my job. And guess who the main person telling me I was being ridiculous was? I know she is going to kill me for putting her on blast, but it was my mom! She is from the generation where you put all your loyalty into your employer and stay with the same company for 40 years! So I honestly think she lost a lot of sleep worrying about my decision to become an investor. I love her to death, but I knew what I wanted to do, so I did not let that stop me! Oh, and you should see her now….bragging about her daughter the investor and smiling when I had her house redecorated. My how things changed! (I hope she doesn’t read this).

No matter what hardships you face in life, I want you to know you deserve and are worthy of pursuing whatever you want. You WILL and CAN find a way. If you don’t have anyone to talk to, or anyone to support your goals and dreams, talk to me! I want to encourage you to reach your dreams and provide that support when you are down and out. I want to bring you back up and help keep you focused. I have been there before, and I remember like yesterday.

And thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of the emails I receive from people telling me how my husband and I have touched their lives and pushed them to make their dreams come true. Where there is a will there IS a way. If you need some encouraging words or want to share a similar story, please post a comment on my blog below.
